SDF Multifunction Pistol

The multifunction pistol is typically carried by SDF trained at the Emissarial Level or higher.

It is designed with the same less-lethal stun feature as the SDF stunner, but has several offensive and utility functions added.

Unlike the stunner's manual safety, the MFP uses a form of biological imprinting to determine if it is being wielded by an authorized user. All bio-print devices are registered in the SDF databases as are users with authorization to use them or any similar bio-print device.

Operation is simple. All functions are immediately active as soon as an authorized user grips the MFP. Unauthorized users receive a stunning charge if they attempt to fire the weapon or if they maintain their grip on the MFP for longer than the user-defined time period programmed into it.

Functions are chosen by the function selection ring located towards the end of the barrel. Functions include settings for:

  • Stun charge: to disrupt the neural pathways and temporarily render a target immobile or unconscious. Maximum effective range 150 meters. It should be noted that extreme pointblank range at high intensity can inflict serious damage to objects or death to living organisms.
  • Utility laser: a continuous beam laser suitable for cutting materials. Maximum range 5 meters.
  • Pulsed laser: an intense laser with a range of 300 meters. In vacuum range is quadrupled.
  • Charged plasma: a high energy blast with a range of 150 meters.
  • Diffuse beam: easiest to describe as a source of illumination or provide a mild source of heat.

Intensity for each of the functions is controlled by the intensity selector ring located just behind the function selection ring.

The MFP's power source is two standard SRC Self-Renewing Power Cells. They are easily exchanged by pressing the release on the frame below each SRC.
