Nersal has spent most of his life in the SDF. Happy with being a pilot, he maintained rank at the Aerospace training level for most of his career. During his time as a transport pilot, he met a young Trephyn female, Mahlell, working on Nee-lo-5, a civilian-run research station. By declining advancement in the SDF, he remained in a position that allowed him to court Mahlell in between deliveries. Eventually they became lifemates and had a son, Sobal.
Nersal's personailty is slightly anti-social. He can be cold and he is not quick to make friends. He is a no-nonsense Trephyn who follows his orders and expects the same of others working with him. He enjoys solitary flights, allowing him to be alone doing what he loves, flying. He has a fondness for antique (by Trephi standards) aircraft, especially unpowered airships.
Part of Nersa's anti-social behavior is due to the loss of his lifemate and 3 cycle old son.
Nersal's lifemate and son, lived on Nee-lo station. Mahlell was a research scientist developing n-space higher dimensional experiments. An accident on a project caused the destruction of half of the station, including where his family was quartered.
The news of the accident and Nersal's subsequent disciplinary problems drew the attention of Sheral, and, up until the time of her capture on Earth, she had been counseling Nersal.
Though Nersal still grieves for his family, with Sheral's guidance and friendship, Nersal was able refocus his life enough to regain his rank. Sheral suggested his advancement into the Tactical training level, where she arranged his assignment as her personal pilot.
Nersal currently remains as Sheral's personal pilot in addition to emissaries Nicia and Sanborne.
